I know that many people have been aware that I have been awaiting the arrival of my first grandchild and I am thrilled to report that my daughter and her husband welcomed a gorgeous little boy into the world last week. Both Mum and bub are doing very well and Dad is thrilled that another Essendon supporter has joined the ranks. I have just had the most glorious ten days in Melbourne – being firstly able to spend some time with my daughter before the baby was born and then miraculously, a day before I was due to go home, she (very conveniently) went into labour so our little man was born before I went home. I then spent the next six days just staring in glorious wonder, for hours on end, at this very special bundle of joy. I have definitely acquired a grandma brain- focusing on work has been a challenge when there’s been a brag book of photos to scroll endlessly through, but I am sure the brain will kick back in when I will be back on deck at work soon (one has to somehow pay for those future trips to Melbourne).
By the way, I have also definitely seen the benefit first hand of the SRC Recovery shorts as my daughter has been wearing them religiously after day 3. Another patient who was absolutely thrilled with the effects of the shorts had sent me an email just last week, keen to ensure that other girls were aware of the benefits of the post-baby compression garments.
‘Thank you Sue for recommending the SRC Recovery shorts following the birth of my son. I wore this garment daily in the eight weeks following his birth and found that it provided excellent support to my abdomen, back and pelvic floor, giving me the confidence to lift my toddler and return to gentle exercise. The compression provided by the recovery shorts was helpful in correcting my abdominal separation, helping me regain my pre-pregnancy figure. Best of all, the garment is discreet and extremely comfortable to wear. I would highly recommend the SRC Recovery shorts to other mums in the postnatal period.’ Helen.
To finish I thought I’d look for some grandma quotes.
This one states the seemingly obvious:
When a child is born, so are grandmothers. Judith Levy
Another is very true:
A baby makes love stronger, the days shorter, the nights longer, savings smaller and a home happier.
As Karen (the other grandma) and I are stranded up in Brissie I know this is true to be sure:
Grandmothers are the people who take delight in hearing babies breathing into the telephone. Author unknown.
But I am hoping I will be the following to this little man and all those that follow:
A grandmother is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher and a little bit best friend. Author unknown.
But most importantly!:
What happens at Nana’s…stays at Nana’s!
Here’s to all new babies and Grandma’s out there.
