I wrote about World Continence Awareness Week back in early February and suddenly I’ve blinked and here it is June and nearly on the eve of this major event in our calendar. This year the Queensland Branch have organized a special night where four Queensland authors of books related to better bladder and bowel management are speaking at the one forum at Easts Leagues Club at Main Street, Coorparoo. The title of the evening is The Four Authors:The Perfect Ingredients to Improve Your Bottom Line. It’s quite amazing that four of us Queenslanders have written these books directed at consumers to improve the quality of life in this very personal area.
Mary O’Dwyer has written two books- Hold It Sister and Hold It Mama; Michelle Kenway has written Inside Out; Peter Dornan has written Conquering Incontinence (for men) and of course my book, Pelvic Floor Recovery:A Physiotherapy Guide for Gynaelogical Repair Surgery. The theme for this year’s World Continence Awareness Week is Healthy Bladder and Bowel Habits and we will be certainly covering this theme thoroughly for ALL members of the family at 6 pm at East Leagues Club on Thursday 28 th June. FLYER LINK. Please take a second to copy and paste the flier into an email and forward it onto all your friends and relatives. It’s a FREE event for the public and after the talks, we will all be available for individual questions and book signings. However it is essential that you contact Tracey Sparkes to register for this free event – we need to know how many nibblies to order! Email Tracey Sparks.
In the February blog, I outlined the cost of incontinence to the Australian economy – around $42 billion per annum and the prevalence in the community of 4 million men, women and children over the age of 15. It’s a BIG problem. And as you’ve constantly seen in all my blogs the conservative interventions are not rocket science. They are entirely manageable….if you are only aware of the simple strategies to employ. So come along and join us – in what I believe is going to be a wonderful evening – and get your bottom line in order!
Remember Date Claimer: Thursday 28 th June, 6 pm Easts Leagues Club, Main Street, Coorparoo.
Ps. A wonderful supporter of all authors, Susie Wilson of Riverbend Books at Bulimba has asked me to let people know about a very worthy  fundraising event for Indigenous Literature. Please follow the link and again pass on the information to those interested.
